We stayed one day in the beautiful town of Carrick-on-Shannon. The Landmark Hotel occupies the premier sight and the view from our Riverview Suite offered an excellent view of the port and Shannon River. Walking to the pubs/restaurants and along the scenic river was very convenient. Parking was conveniently located adjacent to the hotel. Our Riverview Suite was spacious; however, the carpet, decor and fabrics were old and tired and desperately in need of replacement. The common area decor and carpet also looked very dated. Based upon the high room rate, this hotel was living off of its past reputation/location. Our room was stuffy as the windows only opened about 2 inches. Fortunately, the staff did provide a fan for our room upon request. Breakfast options were varied and of decent quality. We did not dine in the restaurant or pub. I would probably recommend this hotel AFTER they do a major renovation on the rooms and common area. Compared to the rest of our accommodations in the Republic of Ireland/Northern Ireland, this hotel offered the least value.
